Here in the north-west of England we are suffering from a seemingly interminable period of stormy weather, bringing an almost nonstop battery of deep weather-fronts from the Atlantic, courtesy of the extremely volatile Jet Stream. Whilst this weather depresses me greatly, I am nevertheless using distraction and visualisation techniques that any cod-psychologist would be proud of by casting my mind back to happier times, both recent and distant. I therefore below bring you a small selection of my personal photographs from warmer, carefree days spent in the Alps:
Decisions, decisions…Above Saalbach Hinterglemm
If staying in Neustift, the Kaserstatt Alm is a great stop for lunch, affording the hiker tremendous views of the Stubaital.
Another advantageous stopping-off point above Neustift, this time accessed by the Elfer cable-car.
This picture perfectly encapsulates the ruggedness of the Stubaital.
The stark but welcoming sight of the Dortmunder Huette in remote Kuehtai, whilst en route from Seefeld to Soelden.
Vital refuelling at the Hotel Jezero, Ribcev Laz, Lake Bohinj.
A beautiful exterior fresco in Mittenwald, southern Germany.
A terrific view from Kaserstatt Alm overlooking more of the Stubaital.
My all-time favourite: Lake Bohinj on a blisteringly hot day, as viewed from Mount Pec, a worthy detour from the route to Rudnica.
